The Department of Meteorology has warned that showers or thundershowers are likely to occur across most parts of the island after 1:00 p.m. today (October 16).
Heavy rainfall exceeding 100 mm is expected in some areas of the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, Southern, Uva, and North-Western provinces, the Met Department added.
During the morning, isolated showers may occur in the Western, Southern, and Northern provinces, as well as in the Ampara district.
The public has been advised to take necessary precautions to reduce risks from temporary localized strong winds and lightning associated with thundershowers.
