The Department of Meteorology says that showers or thundershowers will occur in most parts of the island after 1.00 p.m. today (14).
Heavy rainfall of around 100 mm is likely in some areas of the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, Northwestern, and Uva provinces, as well as in the Galle and Matara districts.
In addition, morning showers may occur in parts of the Western and Southern provinces, while misty conditions can be expected in the Central, Sabaragamuwa, Uva, and North Central provinces during the morning hours.
The public is advised to take necessary precautions to minimize the risk of damage caused by temporary strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
