India has issued a fresh travel advisory urging its citizens to avoid travelling to Iran until further notice and advising those currently residing in the country to leave at the earliest opportunity using available commercial transport services.
The advisory, issued by the Embassy of India in Tehran in coordination with the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), comes amid escalating regional tensions and increasing security concerns across the region.
In its latest communication, the Indian Embassy urged Indian nationals currently in Iran to remain in close contact with embassy officials and coordinate any travel or departure arrangements through authorised channels.
Citizens have also been advised against independently approaching international land borders without prior consultation with the embassy due to the evolving security environment.
“In view of the latest developments in the region, the Embassy reiterates its earlier advice to all Indian nationals to avoid any travel to Iran,” the mission said in a statement shared on social media platform X.
The latest warning follows several advisories issued by New Delhi in recent months as geopolitical tensions surrounding Iran and the wider Middle East continue to intensify.
Indian authorities have repeatedly advised citizens to avoid non-essential travel, closely monitor developments, and follow official guidance regarding movement and exit arrangements.
The Embassy has also requested Indian nationals currently in Iran to register with the mission to facilitate communication and emergency assistance if necessary.
For those unable to depart immediately, authorities have advised minimizing movement, avoiding crowded areas and public gatherings, remaining vigilant, and maintaining regular contact with embassy officials.
While India has not announced a formal evacuation operation, officials stressed the importance of leaving while commercial travel options remain operational.
The latest advisory highlights growing concerns over regional instability and India’s efforts to ensure the safety and welfare of its citizens abroad.
