The inaugural ICC Women’s Champions Trophy will be held in India from February 14 to 28, 2027, with Sri Lanka among the six teams set to compete in the historic tournament.
The new ICC event will bring together six of the world’s leading women’s cricket teams, with all matches scheduled to be played at the Cricket Club of India in Mumbai and the Vadodara International Cricket Stadium in Vadodara.
Sri Lanka was initially scheduled to host the tournament. However, the International Cricket Council (ICC) decided to relocate the event to India while Sri Lanka Cricket continues implementing reforms outlined at the ICC Annual Conference in July.
The ICC assessed Bangladesh, India and South Africa against its established hosting criteria before recommending India as the replacement host. The recommendation was subsequently approved by the ICC Board on September 1.
Australia, England, India, New Zealand, South Africa and Sri Lanka will compete in the tournament.
The teams will play each other in a round-robin league, with the top two sides progressing to the final on February 28.
The tournament will be played in the T20 International format, bringing together several of the strongest teams in women’s cricket.
India will enter the competition as the reigning ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup champions, while Australia are the current ICC Women’s T20 World Cup champions after winning the title in England earlier this year.
