Indian Naval Ship (INS) Udaygiri arrived at the Port of Colombo today (08) on an official visit and was welcomed by the Sri Lanka Navy in accordance with traditional naval customs.
The 149.02-metre-long frigate is commanded by Captain Vikas Sood, who previously served as Defence Adviser at the Indian High Commission in Sri Lanka from July 2020 to October 2023.
During the visit, Captain Sood is scheduled to meet Commander Western Naval Area Rear Admiral Harsha De Silva at the Western Naval Command Headquarters.
The crew of INS Udaygiri will take part in a series of goodwill activities organized by the Sri Lanka Navy, aimed at strengthening cooperation and camaraderie between the two naval forces.
The visiting personnel are also expected to tour several tourist and cultural sites in Sri Lanka during their stay.
Meanwhile, Sri Lanka Navy personnel will visit INS Udaygiri to observe its capabilities, exchange knowledge and participate in onboard training programmes.
