Fuel supplies from the Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) are being delivered to Lanka IOC (LIOC) following high-level diplomatic engagement between India and Sri Lanka to address fuel shortages.
According to sources, President Anura Kumara Dissanayake held a telephone discussion with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the 24th, focusing on fuel supply concerns and the ongoing Middle East conflict. The conversation followed earlier talks between the foreign ministers of the two countries.
These diplomatic efforts have led to swift action, with arrangements made to ensure the immediate supply of fuel to Sri Lanka.
As a result, a shipment from IOC has already reached Sri Lankan waters.
The consignment includes 38,000 metric tonnes of fuel, comprising 20,000 metric tonnes of diesel and 18,000 metric tonnes of petrol, supplied from IOC to Lanka IOC.
