The Department of Meteorology has issued a weather advisory stating that showers or thundershowers are expected in several areas across most parts of the island during the afternoon or night.
In addition, morning showers are likely in the Western Province as well as in the Galle, Matara, and Puttalam districts.
The Department further noted that fairly heavy rainfall exceeding 75 millimetres is expected in certain areas within the Central, Sabaragamuwa, Southern, and Uva provinces.
Residents are urged to take adequate precautions against temporary localized strong winds and lightning, particularly during thundershowers, to minimize the risk of damage.
Meanwhile, misty conditions can be expected during the morning hours in some areas of the Sabaragamuwa, Central, and Uva provinces, as well as the Polonnaruwa district.
