The Government of Japan has extended a JPY 300 million grant to provide state-of-the-art Japanese fire trucks to Sri Lanka, enhancing disaster response capabilities in Export Processing Zones (EPZs) and ensuring a safer business environment.
On March 20, Japanese Ambassador Akio Isomata and Finance Secretary K. M. M. Siriwardana signed and exchanged notes in Colombo to formalize this assistance.
With EPZs playing a key role in Sri Lanka’s industrial growth, the advanced fire trucks will help mitigate risks posed by fire hazards and emergencies, safeguarding businesses, workers, and communities.
This initiative reflects Japan’s strong commitment to supporting Sri Lanka’s socio-economic stability and sustainable development.
