Police have uncovered a large stock of live ammunition, including two aircraft-destroyer rounds, during a special search operation conducted near the Moragahakanda Reservoir.
The discovery was made following a tip-off received by the police. According to police sources, the stock includes 895 T-56 rifle bullets, 116 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition, 10 rounds of 41mm ammunition, 2 rounds of 78mm ammunition, 4 rounds of 84.5mm ammunition, 134 GMPG rounds, and two aircraft-destroyer shells.
Police have launched an investigation to identify those responsible for concealing the ammunition. Authorities also stated that a special operation is being carried out today near the observation point of the Moragahakanda Reservoir to search for any additional hidden explosives or weapons.
