The National Transport Commission (NTC) says a limited number of buses have been deployed today (14) to meet passenger demand during the Sinhala and Tamil New Year period.
Director General Dr. Nilan Miranda stated that although passenger numbers have declined, sufficient buses have been allocated across all regions based on demand.
He noted that the special New Year transport service launched on April 8 continues, with operations running from key hubs including Bastian Mawatha, Makumbura, Kadawatha, and Kaduwela, connecting major cities.
Meanwhile, the Sri Lanka Railways has also reduced train operations today due to lower passenger numbers travelling from Colombo to outstation areas.
Railway Operations Superintendent Asanga Samarasinghe said that despite the reduction, express, mail, and intercity train services from Colombo will continue to operate as usual.
