Meteorology Department Issues Amber Warning for Strong Winds at Sea

The Department of Meteorology has issued an Amber Advisory for strong winds affecting sea areas off the coasts of the North Central, North Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central and Southern provinces, as well as the Trincomalee District.

The advisory, issued today (02), will remain in effect until 11:30 a.m. tomorrow (03).

According to the Department, strong winds of 40–50 km/h can be expected at times over the affected coastal and sea areas during the advisory period.

The Department has urged the public, particularly those engaged in fishing and other marine activities, to remain vigilant and pay close attention to future weather advisories and warnings.
