Minister of Ports, Civil Aviation and Energy Anura Karunathilaka has assured the public that power cuts will not be imposed in the future due to any shortage of coal.
He urged the public not to be unduly concerned by claims from certain opposition figures warning of possible power disruptions caused by coal shortages.
The Minister also said that an additional 400 megawatts of wind-generated electricity is expected to be connected to the national grid within the next year, further strengthening Sri Lanka’s renewable energy capacity.
