The National Building Research Organisation has issued an early landslide warning for several Divisional Secretariat Divisions (DSDs) in the Kurunegala and Ratnapura districts.
According to the NBRO, the warning—issued at 4:00 p.m. today (23)—will remain in effect for the next 24 hours.
Level 1 (Yellow) landslide warnings, which advise residents to remain vigilant, have been issued for the following areas:
Kurunegala District: Ridigama DSD and surrounding areas
Ratnapura District: Kuruwita, Kalawana, Ratnapura, Nivithigala, Pelmadulla, and Eheliyagoda DSDs and surrounding areas
Residents in these areas are urged to stay alert for signs of landslides, including cracks in the ground, sudden water seepage, or unusual sounds, and to take necessary precautions to ensure their safety.
