Former Deputy Leader of the United National Party and MP Ravi Karunanayake has stated in Parliament that significant issues remain in delivering relief to those affected by Cyclone Ditva.
He pointed out that compensation payments due to small and medium-scale enterprises impacted by the disaster have still not been fully disbursed.
The MP also noted that despite assurances of assistance for affected homeowners, there are reports that some families in areas such as Nuwara Eliya continue to live in temporary shelters.
In addition, he drew attention to reports that some schoolchildren affected by recent flooding in Colombo have yet to receive the financial allowances promised to them.
He urged the government to take immediate steps to release the outstanding payments and ensure timely support for all affected groups.
