NTC Initiates Compilation of Passenger Rights for Bus Travel

The National Transport Commission (NTC) has announced the commencement of efforts to compile a comprehensive list of passenger rights aimed at ensuring the safety and welfare of bus travelers.

This initiative will incorporate the conditions outlined in the operating licenses issued by the NTC for buses, as well as those included in licenses issued by provincial councils.

NTC Chairman, Dr. Bandura Dileepa Witharana, stated in a statement to Ada Derana that a final decision on the proposed passenger rights would be made following consultations with bus associations and passenger organizations.

In addition to enhancing passenger safety, Dr. Witharana emphasized that steps are also being taken to safeguard the job security of private bus drivers and conductors as part of this initiative.
