Sri Lanka Police have reported a significant crackdown on traffic violations, filing a total of 124,247 cases between April 1 and April 15.
Of these, 9,920 cases were related to drunk driving, with motorcyclists accounting for the majority at 7,216 cases, followed by three-wheeler drivers with 1,573 cases, and motor vehicle drivers with 664 cases.
The highest number of cases, 18,205, were filed for violations of general road rules.
Additionally, 2,148 cases were filed for speeding offenses, while 9,580 cases were related to license violations.
Police also reported 11,723 cases against motorcyclists for riding without helmets.
This extensive operation underscores the police’s commitment to improving road safety and strictly enforcing traffic regulations across the country.
