Prime Minister Harini Amarasuriya yesterday presented a gazette notification in Parliament confirming an increase in the tax on casino operators from 10% to 18%, effective October 1, 2025.
Under the new regulation, the entry fee for Sri Lankan citizens will be doubled from $50 to $100, while the fee for foreign visitors will remain unchanged at $100.
This measure formalizes a 2025 budget proposal aimed at boosting state revenue through higher taxation of gambling operations.
