People Need Practical Solutions During Economic Crisis, Says Ravi

March 10, 2026

Former Deputy Leader of the United National Party and MP Ravi Karunanayake has stressed that authorities must provide practical solutions to the public amid the country’s ongoing economic crisis, rather than relying solely on theoretical explanations from experts.

Speaking to the media, the MP said decision-makers should recognize that there are experienced and knowledgeable individuals within Parliament who can contribute meaningfully to economic policymaking.

He noted that many lawmakers possess professional backgrounds in the economic sector and should be engaged in addressing the crisis.

The MP also emphasized that the Central Bank of Sri Lanka must be allowed to function with responsibility and accountability. He added that the Central Bank’s role should go beyond controlling inflation to include promoting economic growth, reducing unemployment, lowering interest rates, and supporting business development.
