The Police Media Division has issued a statement debunking a fake audio recording circulating on social media, which falsely claims to be an official notification from the Sri Lanka Police regarding the government’s “Clean Sri Lanka – 2025” initiative.
The fraudulent recording alleges that residents must maintain cleanliness in front of their homes and cites a section of the Police Ordinance, warning of legal action for non-compliance after 15 January 2025.
The Police Media Division has confirmed that no such announcement has been issued and emphasized that the recording is entirely false.
