President Anura Kumara Dissanayake is scheduled to begin his official visit to Japan today (27), following his participation at the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly and the conclusion of his visit to the United States.
According to the Presidential Media Division, the President departed New York for Tokyo on September 25. His visit will take place from September 27 to 30, at the invitation of the Japanese government.
During the visit, President Dissanayake is expected to meet the Emperor of Japan and hold summit-level discussions with Prime Minister Fumio Kishida on a range of bilateral matters, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.
The President is also scheduled to address a business forum in Tokyo, highlighting Sri Lanka’s investment and economic opportunities. In addition, he will take part in “Sri Lanka Day” at Expo 2025 Osaka, an event that will showcase the country’s cultural heritage and potential for economic collaboration.
President Dissanayake will also meet with members of the Sri Lankan community in Japan.
He will be accompanied by Foreign Minister Vijitha Herath and a delegation of senior government officials.
