At the invitation of the Government of the People’s Republic of China, Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasooriya arrived in Beijing on October 12 for an official visit to attend the 2025 Women Global Leaders’ Meeting.
Upon her arrival, she was welcomed by Gao Shuming, Minister of the National Radio and Television Administration.
On the first day of her visit, the Prime Minister toured the Forbidden City and the Great Wall of China. The Forbidden City, also known as the Palace Museum, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site renowned for its imperial architecture and historically preserved collections. The Great Wall of China, another UNESCO site, stands as a symbol of the country’s rich history and enduring preservation efforts.
In the coming days, the Prime Minister is scheduled to attend the Women Global Leaders’ Meeting and hold bilateral discussions with key leaders, including President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Keqiang of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China.
