The Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka (PUCSL) is expected to announce its final decision on the revision of electricity tariffs today (14).
The Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) has proposed a 6.8% increase in tariffs, citing the failure to properly implement a cost-reflective pricing mechanism as the main reason for the proposed hike.
According to the CEB, the revision has become unavoidable in order to cover operational costs and ensure the stability of power supply.
Earlier, the PUCSL conducted public consultations regarding the proposed revision, which marks the third electricity tariff adjustment for this year.
