Ravi calls for unity amid Middle East crisis

March 29, 2026

Former UNP Deputy Leader MP Ravi Karunanayake has said that the current administration is not the first government in Sri Lanka to face challenges arising from a global crisis linked to tensions in the Middle East.

Speaking to the media, he noted that when previous governments encountered similar situations, those now in power had questioned the role of a government when problems affected the country.

He stressed that political parties have a responsibility to make balanced and accountable statements during such times.

Karunanayake added that while the existence of a crisis is widely acknowledged, it is essential for all stakeholders to come together to address it.

He emphasized that this is a moment to move beyond political divisions and act with unity in the national interest.
