Ravi Karunanayake Questions Government on Debate Over Central Bank Report

Ravi Karunanayake has questioned the government in Parliament regarding when the report of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka will be formally debated.

Speaking during parliamentary proceedings, the former United National Party Deputy Leader stated that the Central Bank report should be debated urgently in Parliament according to normal parliamentary procedure.

Karunanayake inquired from the Speaker regarding:

The date scheduled for the debate
Whether arrangements had already been made for the discussion

He further requested that if a date had been planned, the ruling party should officially inform Parliament accordingly.

Responding to the MP’s questions, Bimal Ratnayake stated that the government does intend to hold a debate on the report.

According to the Minister:

A decision regarding the debate will be taken through the Parliamentary Affairs Committee
The official date for the debate will be announced to Parliament in due course

Sri Lanka’s monetary policy
Currency fluctuations
Inflation
Interest rate decisions
