Former UNP Deputy Leader MP Ravi Karunanayake has said that even US President Donald Trump does not know when the ongoing conflict with Iran will come to an end, highlighting the uncertainty surrounding the global situation.
Speaking at a media briefing, he noted that even if the conflict were to end soon, its economic consequences would continue to affect countries over the long term, particularly through the financial sector.
Karunanayake warned that the rising cost of living will place increased pressure on the public, making daily life more difficult.
He added that the situation is likely to drive up overall national expenditure, including capital spending, further straining the country’s economy.
