An extraordinary gazette has been issued, officially extending the retirement age of doctors to 63 years.
The gazette was signed by Dr. A.H.M.H. Abayarathna, the Minister of Public Administration, Provincial Councils, and Local Government.
This decision follows the recent Cabinet approval to extend the retirement age for doctors. The gazette notification is effective from January 1, 2023.
