A supplementary estimate of Rs. 7.5 billion to secure funds for the purchase of paddy during the 2026 Yala season is scheduled to be presented to Parliament today (21).
The decision was taken yesterday (20) at a meeting of the Committee on Parliamentary Business chaired by Speaker Dr. Jagath Wickramaratne.
Accordingly, the debate on the supplementary estimate is scheduled to take place today from 11.30 a.m. to 12.30 p.m.
The supplementary estimate seeks to reallocate Rs. 7.5 billion originally allocated to the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, Land and Irrigation for 2026 and expected to remain unutilised during the year, for paddy procurement.
Meanwhile, the Government’s Adjournment Motion is scheduled to be debated from 1.00 p.m. to 5.30 p.m.
