September welfare payments under the Aswesuma programme will be credited to beneficiaries’ bank accounts today (16), according to the Welfare Benefits Board.
Under the first phase of the programme, Rs. 9.18 billion will be distributed among 992,053 beneficiary families.
A further Rs. 2.12 billion will be paid to 213,335 families receiving benefits under the second phase.
Welfare Benefits Board Chairman Nimal Kotawalagedara said beneficiaries would be able to access the funds through their Aswesuma bank accounts from tomorrow (17).
