The Department of Meteorology Sri Lanka has issued an advisory warning of severe lightning in parts of the country.
According to the department, thundershowers accompanied by severe lightning are likely to occur after 2:00 p.m. in the Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces, as well as in the districts of Galle, Matara, Kandy, Nuwara Eliya, and Kurunegala.
The advisory also warns of temporary localised strong winds during thundershowers.
The public is urged to take necessary precautions to minimise potential damage and ensure safety during lightning activity.
