The Department of Meteorology forecasts that showers or thundershowers will occur in most parts of the island after 1:00 p.m. today (23).
Fairly heavy rainfall exceeding 75 mm is likely in some areas of the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, Uva, Eastern, and Northern provinces.
Additionally, showers or thundershowers may occur in the morning as well, particularly in the Western Province and the Galle, Matara, and Puttalam districts, the Department said.
The public is kindly advised to take necessary precautions to minimize damage caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
Misty conditions are also expected in parts of the Central, Sabaragamuwa, and Uva provinces, as well as in the Ampara district, during the morning hours.
