The Department of Meteorology has announced that showers or thundershowers are expected in most parts of the island after 1.00 p.m.
According to the forecast, heavy rainfall of around 100 mm is likely in some areas of the Sabaragamuwa, Central, Uva, North-Central, and North-Western provinces.
In addition, showers may occur in the western and southern coastal areas during the morning, the department said.
The public is advised to take adequate precautions to minimize the risks associated with temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
