The Sri Lanka Computer Emergency Readiness Team (SLCERT) has raised concerns over a sharp rise in online scams during the festive season.
Chief Information Security Officer, Nirosh Ananda, highlighted that numerous complaints have been received regarding scammers making phone calls to consumers, falsely claiming they have won prizes. Additionally, there are reports of fraudulent activities involving the misuse of AI technology.
The public is urged to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions to protect themselves from such scams. SLCERT advises verifying the authenticity of unsolicited calls or messages and refraining from sharing personal or financial information with unknown sources.
