A special program has been launched to prevent violence against female candidates contesting the local government elections, with a particular focus on online abuse.
Minister of Women and Child Affairs Saroja Savithri Paulraj emphasized that internet and social media platforms are being closely monitored, as female candidates often face violence, suppression, insults, and sexual harassment online.
A coordinated initiative involving multiple stakeholders has been introduced to take legal action against such incidents.
This program, titled “Let’s Support Her Journey,” aims to ensure a safer and more inclusive political environment for women.
