Special transport services have commenced for passengers travelling to their hometowns and religious destinations for the Vesak festival.
The National Transport Commission (NTC) stated that special bus operations are being conducted in line with the transport plan introduced for the festive season.
Accordingly, additional bus services have been deployed from Colombo Fort to destinations covering all provinces to facilitate increased passenger demand during the Vesak period.
Meanwhile, the Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB) has also arranged special transport services for the public travelling during the festival season.
SLTB Chairman Sajeewa Kanakarathna stated that special transport arrangements have been introduced in several areas, including services centered around Vesak zones in Colombo.
In addition, the Railway Department announced that several special train services have been introduced to accommodate the increased number of passengers expected during the Vesak holidays.
Authorities have urged commuters to use the special transport facilities provided and plan their journeys in advance due to the expected increase in travel during the festival period.
