The government is considering introducing a new vehicle registration system under which the vehicle owner’s name would appear on the number plate.
According to an official statement issued by Parliament, the proposal was discussed at a recent meeting of the Consultative Committee on Public Transport.
The committee focused on increasing government revenue while addressing the needs of vehicle owners. As part of these discussions, a proposal to issue personalised number plates displaying the owner’s name was taken into consideration.
The committee also discussed the legal requirements and security implications associated with introducing the proposed system.
