Sri Lanka cricket legends Mahela Jayawardena and Kumar Sangakkara have endorsed the government’s ‘Clean Sri Lanka’ initiative, calling it a significant step toward national development.
The program, aimed at fostering cleanliness and sustainable practices, was officially launched at the Presidential Secretariat under the patronage of President Anura Kumara Dissanayake.
A Call for Public Involvement
Speaking at the event, Mahela Jayawardena emphasized the importance of public participation. “As citizens, we have a great responsibility to take this project forward. This is a great start, and there’s much to do,” he stated, expressing optimism for the program’s success.
A Vision for Change
Kumar Sangakkara highlighted the program’s broader implications, describing it as a unifying effort that transcends politics and administration while inspiring societal change.
“Although interpreted in simple terms, this programme has been launched with greater meaning. It is crucial for the development of the country and its citizens. Real change will happen when everyone becomes part of this transformation, as the government cannot do it alone,” he remarked.
The ‘Clean Sri Lanka’ initiative aims to mobilize the nation toward sustainable practices, setting the stage for collective action and progress.
