Sri Lanka Police Offer Special Travel Expenses and Allowances for “Siri Dalada Wandanawa” Duty

The Sri Lanka Police Headquarters has announced measures to support officers on duty during the “Siri Dalada Vandanawa,” the special exposition of the Sacred Tooth Relic, which began today (April 18) and runs until April 27.

In light of the event’s significance and the additional responsibilities it brings, the Acting Inspector General of Police (IGP) has directed that all officers involved in the security and traffic operations be provided with special travel expenses and a composite allowance.

The decision by the Police Headquarters acknowledges the extra costs incurred by officers who are assigned to work long shifts, both day and night, far from their usual stations. This provision ensures that officers are compensated for the extended duration of their duties during this historic 10-day event at the Temple of the Tooth Relic in Kandy.

The police have also implemented a comprehensive security and traffic plan to guarantee the safety of the thousands of local and international devotees expected to visit the temple during this rare occasion.
