Sri Lanka welcomed 896,884 tourists in the first four months of 2025, marking a significant increase compared to the same period in 2024, according to the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA).
In April 2025 alone, the country recorded 174,608 arrivals, up from 148,867 in April 2024—a 17% year-on-year increase.
However, the April figure represents a decline when compared to the first three months of 2025, each of which saw over 229,000 arrivals.
Despite the month-on-month dip in April, tourism officials remain optimistic, attributing the decline to seasonal variations and global travel patterns. They emphasized that the overall upward trend underscores a robust recovery for Sri Lanka’s tourism sector, which continues to rebound from pandemic-era disruptions.
