The total number of dengue cases reported in Sri Lanka so far this year has risen to 90,306, according to the latest data released by the National Dengue Control Unit (NDCU).
A total of 65 dengue-related deaths have been reported, with the country’s case fatality rate standing at 0.07%.
July recorded the highest monthly number of cases so far this year, with 29,973 infections. Meanwhile, 4,959 cases have been reported during the first 10 days of August alone.
The Western Province remains the worst affected, accounting for 52.96% of all reported cases, with 47,824 infections. The Southern Province has recorded 13,361 cases, while the Central Province has reported 8,027 cases.
At district level, Gampaha has recorded the highest number of cases at 19,204, followed by Colombo with 17,955, Kandy with 6,413, Matara with 5,971, and Kalutara with 5,871 cases.
