Sri Lanka Secures $100 Million World Bank Loan for Climate-Smart Agriculture

Sri Lanka will obtain a concessionary loan of USD 100 million from the World Bank to support climate-smart agriculture projects aimed at integrated rural-urban development and resilience. The initiative will receive technical support from the International Finance Corporation (IFC).

The Integrated Village Development and Climate Resilience Project seeks to enhance productivity across all agricultural sectors, including food crops, plantation crops, livestock, and fisheries.

Key project activities include climate-smart agriculture practices, diversification, water resource management, economic sustainability, capacity building, training, and infrastructure development.

Additionally, the initiative aims to boost Sri Lanka’s competitiveness in both domestic and international markets.
