Sri Lanka to Review Public Service Recruitment and Management

The Government of Sri Lanka has announced the formation of an Officers’ Committee, chaired by the Secretary to the Prime Minister, to evaluate recruitment processes and personnel management within the public service.

The proposal, submitted by President Anura Kumara Dissanayake, received Cabinet approval during its meeting on Monday (Dec. 30).

Scope of the Review:

The committee will review the staffing of Commissions, Ministries, Departments, Statutory Boards, and Provincial Councils. Based on its findings, necessary measures will be taken to:

  • Streamline Recruitment: Facilitate essential appointments.
  • Redeploy Staff: Reassign personnel according to service requirements.

The initiative aims to ensure maximum efficiency and effectiveness in delivering public services across the country.
