Sri Lankan racing driver Yevan David has successfully completed his debut FIA Formula 3 season.
In the final round held in Madrid, David qualified in ninth place with an impressive lap time of 1:50.023, recording his best qualifying performance of the season.
David entered Formula 3 after finishing as the runner-up in the Euroformula Open Championship. Despite facing significant challenges from the opening round in Melbourne, he steadily improved his performance throughout the season.
A major milestone came during the Silverstone round, where David secured second place in the Sprint race, becoming the first Sri Lankan driver to finish on the podium in an FIA Formula 3 event.
At the Monza round, he delivered another strong performance by gaining 25 positions and finishing fourth in both races.
Reflecting on the season, David expressed satisfaction with the progress he made throughout his debut campaign.
In 2026, David also had to sit for his Advanced Level examination while representing Sri Lanka at an international motorsport tournament.
He acknowledged the strong support he received from Sri Lankan sponsors, including Maliban, DIMO Group, Nations Trust Bank, Fydam Financial, and the Ceylon Motor Sports Club, as well as from Sri Lankan fans.
