Sri Lanka’s Annual Inflation Rises to 7.3% in July

July 31, 2026

Sri Lanka’s overall inflation, as measured by the Colombo Consumer Price Index (CCPI) on a year-on-year basis, increased to 7.3% in July 2026, up from 6.8% recorded in June, according to the Department of Census and Statistics.

The Department said food inflation rose significantly to 6.3% in July from 3.6% in the previous month, indicating an increase in the prices of food items.

Meanwhile, non-food inflation eased to 7.8% in July, compared to 8.4% recorded in June.

The latest figures reflect a continued rise in overall consumer prices, with higher food inflation contributing to the increase in the annual inflation rate despite a moderation in non-food price growth.
