Sri Lanka’s tourism sector earned $400.7 million in January 2025, reflecting a 17.2% increase from the $341.8 million recorded in January 2024, according to the latest data from the Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL).
Meanwhile, 232,341 tourists visited the country between February 1 and 27, bringing total arrivals for the year up to 485,102 as of February 27, 2025, per data from the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA).
The industry had generated $362.1 million in December 2024. Overall, total tourism earnings for 2024 stood at $3,168.7 million, marking a 53.2% growth from $2,068.0 million in 2023.
