The Ministry of Education, Higher Education and Vocational Education has launched the “Surakimu Lanka” school energy conservation programme to promote responsible energy use within the education sector.
The initiative aims to build a culture of energy conservation among students while supporting national energy security and environmental sustainability.
In line with the programme, the Ministry has issued a new circular outlining guidelines for its implementation across schools.
Accordingly, schools have been instructed to carry out the relevant activities before the end of the first school term, prior to the start of holidays.
However, if this timeline cannot be met, principals and school authorities have been advised to select a suitable alternative date to implement the programme.
