The joyous occasion of Christmas, commemorating the birth of Jesus Christ, is just hours away. Across the globe, including in Sri Lanka, Christians are preparing to celebrate this sacred day with devotion and reverence.
Born in a humble manger over 2,000 years ago in Bethlehem, Jesus Christ’s message of peace, love, and hope continues to resonate, especially among the poor and the oppressed. His birth symbolizes faith and embodies the true meaning of Christmas—a call for unity, compassion, and generosity.
Christians worldwide, including millions in Sri Lanka, are set to mark the occasion with great devotion. The main Christmas service at the Vatican’s St. Peter’s Basilica will be led by His Holiness Pope Francis, who will deliver his much-anticipated Christmas message to the world.
In Sri Lanka, the central Christmas service will take place at the Our Lady of Sorrows Church in Ja-Ela, under the guidance of His Eminence Malcolm Cardinal Ranjith, the Archbishop of Colombo.
As the world reflects on the significance of Christ’s birth, communities come together to share the timeless message of peace, love, and joy that defines the spirit of Christmas.
