Speaker of Parliament Dr. Jagath Wickramaratne informed Parliament today (19) that copies of three petitions filed before the Supreme Court challenging the 22nd Constitutional Amendment Bill have been received.
The Speaker made the announcement during today’s parliamentary proceedings.
Parliament was also informed that copies of petitions filed before the Supreme Court challenging the Judicature Amendment Bill had been received by the Speaker.
The petitions relate to legislation currently before Parliament and will be considered in accordance with the constitutional process applicable to Bills challenged before the Supreme Court.
