Showers or thundershowers are expected in most parts of the island after 1:00 p.m. today (14), according to the Department of Meteorology.
Fairly heavy rainfall exceeding 50 mm is likely in some areas of the Western, Sabaragamuwa and Central provinces, as well as in the Galle and Matara districts.
Misty conditions may occur in parts of the Central, Sabaragamuwa and Uva provinces, along with the Galle, Matara and Vavuniya districts during the early hours of the morning.
The public has been advised to take necessary precautions against temporary strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
Meanwhile, due to the sun’s apparent northward movement, it will be directly overhead Sri Lanka between April 5 and April 15. Today, areas such as Nawaladi, Paranthan, Murasumodai, Vellikkandal, Udapattukkandal and Puliyampokkanei will experience overhead sun conditions at around 12:10 p.m.
