The Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB) says buses will continue to operate today (13) based on passenger demand as New Year travel slows.
SLTB Chairman Sanjeewa Kanagaratne stated that a decline in passengers travelling from Colombo to outstation areas was observed by yesterday evening (12).
He noted that around 1,500 additional buses had been deployed in recent days to support outbound travel, but services today will be adjusted according to demand.
Special bus services are also scheduled to operate tomorrow (14) from regional depots for those travelling for New Year visits.
Meanwhile, the National Transport Commission (NTC) said buses will be operated based on passenger requirements over both today and tomorrow.
In addition, Sri Lanka Railways announced that train operations will be limited today and tomorrow due to reduced passenger numbers.
Railway General Manager Asanga Samarasinghe confirmed that all express, mail, and intercity train services from Colombo to outstation destinations will continue as normal.
Special train services have also been arranged for essential travel between Colombo and key areas including Polgahawela, Kosgama, Avissawella, Puttalam, and Galle, along with return services to Colombo.
