U.S. President Donald Trump has announced an extension of the ceasefire with Iran, following a request from Asim Munir and Shehbaz Sharif.
In a statement, Trump said the decision was made amid reports that the Iranian government is “seriously fractured,” and requires additional time to formulate a unified proposal.
He emphasised, however, that the United States would keep its military forces on standby.
According to Trump, the ceasefire will remain in effect until Iranian representatives present a proposal and negotiations are concluded.
